Our Firm is headed by three partners: Piyush Joshi, R.V. Anuradha and Sumiti Yadava, who are supported by a vibrant and enthusiastic team.
We have a niche practice in Energy, Projects and Project Finance, headed by Mr. Piyush Joshi, who has been recognized by the International Who’s Who of Project Finance Lawyers as a leading practitioner in his field. Piyush has held positions of responsibility in the in-house legal teams of two major multi-national energy companies. Piyush has extensive multi-sectoral experience in Energy, infrastructure development projects and project financing transactions. He has advised on the development, financing, operations and maintenance of projects in the energy sector (power, renewable energy, natural gas sectors), urban infrastructure sector (urban planning, township development, urban transport, metro railway networks, tramways, BRTS, regional railways networks, urban mobility), and environment infrastructure sector (municipal solid waste projects, landfill development, landfill capping and landfill reclamation projects), including on constitutional law issues arising from the same. He has also advised project developers in acquisition and restructuring of distressed infrastructure projects. Piyush specializes in legal strategy and representation in complex project disputes across infrastructure sectors before various forums, including the Supreme Court of India, High Courts, and regulatory bodies. He is the author of “Law Relating to Infrastructure Projects” (Lexis-Nexis-Butterworths, 2nd edition, 2003).
Ms. R.V. Anuradha, who heads the team on international trade and investment laws, has been recognized by Chambers and Partners as a leading practitioner in her field. She is also a member of the Asia WTO Research Network- a network of academics and practitioners working on WTO law and policy in the Asian region. Anuradha leads the Firm’s team in advising companies, industry associations and the Government of India on issues arising under the WTO Agreements, Free Trade Agreements, and Bilateral Investment Protection Agreements, including disputes arising under such agreements. She also undertakes studies for the Commonwealth Secretariat, the International Trade Centre, Centre for WTO Studies and export promotion associations in India. Anuradha also leads the Firm’s team on climate change law and policy, which has advised on the development and financing of environment infrastructure projects relating to municipal solid waste management, sewerage treatment, biomass power, ecosystem restoration, renewable energy and agreements for sale of carbon emission reductions generated from such projects. She is also a visiting faculty at the National Law School of India University, Bengaluru, the National Law University, New Delhi and the National Law University of Odisha. She also teaches at the Joint Academy on international trade law and policy conducted by the Centre for WTO Studies in collaboration with the World Trade Institute, Berne.
Ms. Sumiti Yadava focuses on project development and project financing transactions, and general corporate law. She combines her knowledge of corporate law with sector-specific laws, to enable effective structuring of project transactions and investments in the infrastructure sectors of energy and urban infrastructure. In the natural gas sector Sumiti has extensive experience in relation to city gas distribution and distributed LNG Supply, storage and regasification facilities. She also advices on urban infrastructure sector and the environment infrastructure sector. Sumiti also specializes in legal strategy and representation in complex project disputes across infrastructure sectors before various forums.
